PORTLAND — Amy-Eloise Neale of Snohomish placed fifth among 196 runners in the Nike Cross Nationals girls cross-country championships on Saturday.
Neale, a junior at Glacier Peak High School, finished in 17 minutes, 54 seconds on the 3.1-mile course at Portland Meadows. She was 16 seconds behind winner Sarah Baxter of Simi Valley, Calif.
Spokane's Katie Knight, a North Central High School junior who defeated Neale for the Class 3A state championship last month, was third in 17:45.
