Blue Springs South junior takes 19th at Nike Cross Country Nationals meet

Samantha Nightingale is an All-American cross country runner.

The Blue Springs High School junior, who placed second at the Nike Cross Country Regionals in Terre Haute, Ind., placed 19th Saturday morning at the Nike Cross Country Nationals in Portland, Ore., finishing in a time of 19:19.09.

The top 21 runners earned All-American status. The race was run on Nike’s own cross country course, which is near a race track.

“The whole experience was amazing,” said Nightingale, who returned to Blue Springs late Sunday evening. “But the race was tough. It had rained, and the track was wet and muddy – really muddy.
