The journey continues for the Cardinal O’Hara boys cross country squad.

The Lions excelled at the Nike Northeast Regional Saturday, taking second place behind the nation’s No. 1 program, Christian Brothers Academy.

O’Hara’s national championship dreams remain intact. The Lions earned an automatic bid to the Nike Cross Nationals next week at Portland meadows in Portland, Ore. by virtue of their second-place finish.

Dan Savage was the Lions’ top runner, followed by Kevin James, Ernie Pitone, Chris Pastore and Jim Belfatto. Matt Hayes and Christian Donnelly placed sixth and seven, respectively.
