1. Fayetteville-Manlius, Manlius, NY No major meet yet; the six-time defending national champions will not race seriously until the Oct. 13 Manhattan meet in the Bronx. 2. Tatnall School, Wilmington, DE Nike Cross Nationals third-place team from 2011 opens its season this Saturday at Cherokee Challenge (NJ) with six of seven varsity performers back in the line-up. 3. Saugus HS, Saugus, CA Five girls run 17:21 to 17:53 for 3 miles to rule girls’’ action at Seaside Invitational. 4. Carmel HS, Carmel, IN Runs 2-3-4-5-8 at Mason Invitational for latest of many dominant victories with 5K average times in the low-19s, including state meet course. 5. Xavier Prep, Phoenix, AZ Victorious Sarah Fakler leads six more teammates in top 11 at Sole Sports Invitational with 18:32 average for 3 miles at Silverado Golf Course. 6. Saratoga Springs HS, Saratoga Springs, NY No major meet yet. 7. Monarch HS, Louisville, CO Wins St. Vrain Invitational after 91-100 victory over Fort Collins in Cheyenne Mountain Stampede. 8. Fort Collins HS, Fort Collins, CO Third at Cherry Creek Invitational without full team, second to Monarch at St. Vrain meet. 9. Naperville North HS, Naperville, IL Defeats pre-season No. 4 New Trier by 28 points in First to the Finish Invitational with four girls in top 15 on state meet course. 10. The Woodlands HS, The Woodlands, TX Team rallies around Maddie McLellan’s 11:18 2-mile victory to take six of top 11 spots in Friday Night Lights meet with 11:44 average at Bear Branch Park. 11. La Costa Canyon HS, Carlsbad, CA Emma Abramson and Kelly Lawson run 1-2 for 2 miles at Bronco Roundup as team clocks 11:09 to 12:23 for five scorers. 12. Grosse Pointe South HS, Grosse Point Farms, MI Twins Hannah and Haley Meier run 1-2 in unison at Muskrat Classic with strong third-place girl as well, but No. 5 scorer lagging well back. 13. Academy of Holy Names, Albany, NY No major meet yet. 14. Carroll HS, Southlake, TX Wins Marcus I Invitational by 18 points over Flower Mound with 19:04 5K average and 57-second split. 15. Glacier Peak HS, Snohomish, WA All-star seniors Amy Eloise-Neale and Katie Bianchini run 1-2 to lead team to Sehome Invitational victory on 2-mile course. 16. Great Oak HS, Temecula, CA Wins Fastback Shootout by 36 points over Simi Valley with 11:59 average for 2-mile course. 17. Lake Park HS, Roselle, IL Victorious national threat Kaylee Flanagan runs 16:28 for 3 miles to lead team to 61-69 win over Glenbard West in Lancer Invitational. 18. Ogden HS, Ogden, UT Victorious Sarah Feeny leads 1-2-3 sweep in dominating county triumph. 19. Saline HS, Saline, MI Split squad wins Woodhaven and Bath Invitationals on same day. 20. Voorhees HS, Glen Gardner, NJ No major meet yet. 21. Assumption HS, Louisville, KY The B team places second in Rumble in the Jumble meet at nature preserve course. 22.
