Area runners excel at Nike Cross New York Regional qualifer

POUGHKEEPSIE — Two senior boys and most likely a sophomore girl can book a trip to the West Coast this week to run in a national high school cross country championship.
Honeoye Falls-Lima's Cooper Roach, Victor's MJ Erb and Canandaigua's Kennedy Jensen ran career-best races at the fifth Nike Cross New York Regional qualifier Saturday to set up a shot at nationals next weekend in Portland, Ore.
On the bubble and awaiting word today on wild-card berths are Rush-Henrietta's nationally ranked boys after finishing third, and Jensen's team, which finished fourth.
