The 2020 NXN events, including the 8 Regional Qualifiers and National Finals are canceled

Comments

BEAVERTON, OR - July 16, 2020 - As we continue to navigate the evolving impact of COVID-19, we are cancelling the 2020 NXN events, including the 8 Regional Qualifiers and National Finals.

This was not a decision taken lightly, but the health and safety of our athletes, families, fans and employees is our top priority.

We understand NXN has provided a platform for intense competition, showcased some of the sport’s greatest talent, and gathered a strong community to celebrate their shared love for running.

We look forward to bringing NXN back in 2021.

How premature. So sad.

This is a premature and completely unfair decision. December is a long way off, especially considering how fluid the COVID situation is. They may probably even have some kind of vaccine or mitigating treatment by then. This is a terrible thing to do to the class of 2021. They had the spring 2020 season taken away and now you are robbing them of a chance to shine in front of coaches nationally. The kids have worked so hard and trained nonstop and you are pulling the rug out from under them. I pray you will reconsider.

The decision to cancel seems premature. I believe that limiting the attendance of spectators to just parents and athletes would be a logical first step along with requiring social distancing and mask for the parents. I am sure there are a lot of Nike fans disappointed in this decision.

I don't understand where you are getting your data from regarding safety and running events. This IS the safest sport for kids to compete in. This virus DOES NOT survive outdoors, it cannot be spread via sweat/perspiration. The data is there, take some time to look it up as oppose to posing a panic about safety!
